6.1 CALSIPHOS - Lime Stone and Corrosion Preventive

ImageCALSIPHOS® is a chemical product improving the quality of water of city network and of the industrial treatment waters, which was obtained by using high technology in result of long studies. It prevents formation of DUST - CORRISION - LIME STONE over any metal surfaces contacting with hot or cold water, within pipings, cooling towers and radiators, within hot water networks of thermal springs, vapor boiler feeding waters and other many water systems that we can not count.

Method of Use:
CALSIPHOS® is integrated with the central water system via tanks, which are called dispenser. Selection of dispenser should be done in accordance with water consumption. Although it can be connected to the main water inlet, can also be connected locally prior to vapor boiler or close before open circuit water systems. Where it is connected centrally, can be easily used as potable water. Besides having no harmful effect on health, has also positive effect on human health thank to phosphate, which it contains under limits (2-3 ppm). In many cities of Europe, CALSIPHOS dispensers are connected centrally to the city water networks and city people are benefiting from this water. CALSIPHOS is dissolved in water as calculated 3-5 gr per ton. Meaning, when 1 ton of water passed through dispenser, 3-5 gr of CALSIPHOS is dissolved. CALSIPHOS is dissolved in 3-5 gr limits where 1 ton (hr) water pass through dispenser. CALSIPHOS being dissolved in this concentration is giving 2-3 gr of phosphate (P2O5). This rate is enough for CALSIPHOS to perform its activities.

How CALSIPHOS prevents occurance of Lime Stone

2-3 ppm (2-3 grs of P2O5/ton) of phosphate molecules (P2O5) being dissoulted in water prevent calcium and magnesium carbonate which presents in water and results permanent hardness to collapse in lime stone form within water circulation system. Phosphate which gets in water in consequence of dissolution of CALSIPHOS, again prevents occurance of lime stone by getting through the ions of calcium and magnesium thus breaking them into pieces.

How CALSIPHOS prevents Corrosion (decomposing of water system)

The system in which water circulates is generally iron piping or manifold. It also makes no sense it becomes from copper, galvanized or lead. Because affecting mechanism does not alter. Basic principal of CALSIPHOS system, is to interrupt water to contact with metal face by coating metal face of the system in which water ciculatesby a thin but very strong film of phosphate. Oxygen which is present solution from in water results the occurance of hydroxide anion (OH-) in consequence of electron exchange. This hydroxide anion makes metal hydroxides by aggregating with active metal cations coming out of metal, then decomposition of system (corrosion) starts.

CALSIPHOS, prevents this ion exchange and aggregation by coating metal face with a film and dissolves the problem fundementally by preventing the occurance of metal hydroxides. Therefore, where CALSIPHOS is used in system, there shall not be needed for additional expensive corrosion inhibitor chemicals or oxygen trappers.

Because the benefits of CALSIPHOS are not limited with above.

  • It is ECONOMIC due to being dissolved very little amounts in water such as 2-5 grs per ton (hr).
  • IT HAS USAGE SIMPLICITY AND EASINESS because of unusing expensive equipment such as dosage pump which frequently defects and requires follow up.
  • Its usage is not limited with certain tonage capacity as in the resin system. There is no need, for regeneration with salt, hardness control and materials.

Where CALSIPHOS amount in dispenser goes lower that required level, water treatment can ongo by adding CALSIPHOS. Dispenser by-pass system, provides adding and maintenance facility without interrupting water flow. CALSIPHOS system is not such a salt system which covers large area, requires significant  handling, keeps two personnel busy permenantly. It covers only an area of 1-2 m2 accordingly with the magnitude of dispenser. Privileges of CALSIPHOS are not limited so.

CALSIPHOS has been bringing the piping or the system in which it circulates to its first day formation by dissoluting lime stones that already occured. Where it was used in boiler water treatment, significant successful results have been obtained. Where CALSIPHOS is used, it is advised to empty water from the vapor generator by counterfeit with several times a day. Amount of counterfeit should be one tenth of the evaporated water.

In the treathment water which was treated with CALSIPHOS, a P2O5 concentration up to 120 ppm is permitted. For instance, 3 tons of water should be counterfeited in 24 hours with a couple charges which is one tenth of consumption of a boiler with 30 tons/day capacity.
